30th Death Anniversary of Br. Shaji Commemorated at Chempakappara
The 30th death anniversary of Br. Shaji George (27 March 1968 – 17 July 1995) was solemnly commemorated on 17 July 2025 at his home village of Chempakappara, Kerala. A special Holy Mass was celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Chempakappara, Br. Shaji’s home parish by Rev. Brillis Mathew.
In his homily, Rev. Brillis reflected on the legacy of Br. Shaji, drawing from his personal experiences and encounters with him, highlighting his deep faith and simplicity. He touched the lives of many people, inspiring them to give their lives fully for Jesus. “I gave my life for Jesus. Why don’t you?” These words of Br. Shaji, spoken 30 years ago, had inspired Rev. Brillis to submit his life for the work of the Lord.
In honour of Br. Shaji’s enduring legacy, a felicitation ceremony, was held after the Holy Mass. The event was attended by many, including those who had personally known him. Several people shared heartfelt memories, recounting the profound influence Br. Shaji had on their lives and faith journeys. A special moment of recognition was dedicated to Br. Shaji’s parents, who were honoured during the program.
Marking the occasion, a souvenir in Malayalam titled "The Fearless Witness of Christ" was released, featuring Br. Shaji’s inspiring life and witness. The English version will also be released shortly.
Though Br. Shaji left this world at the young age of 27, his unwavering commitment to the Gospel and fearless witness to Christ continue to inspire and guide many even today.
